CAEC supports continuing education through the Electric Cooperative Foundation Scholarship Program each year. Graduating high school seniors residing in a CAEC member home are eligible to compete for one of four $2,500 scholarships. Applications are available beginning each November and scholarships are awarded in May.
The program, established in 1997, awards scholarships to dependents of members of participating electric cooperatives. Granted only to graduating high school seniors, the student must attend a four-year college, a junior college, a technical school or vocational school of the scholarship recipient’s choice provided that such school is an accredited institution.
The 2025 scholarship recipients are Gracie Atkinson of Elmore County High School who attends Southern Union and will transfer to Auburn University to study Special Education; Mya Carroll of Stanhope Elmore High School who attends the University of South Alabama and studies Occupational Therapy; Miller Erwin of Wetumpka High School who attends the University of Alabama at Birmingham and studies Psychology; and Reid Norcross of Wetumpka High School who attends the University of Alabama and studies Kinesiology.
