On Sept. 24, CAEC sent two line employees to help a co-op in Caracol, Haiti. While there, they will be installing new lines, upgrading equipment and training local linemen in proper construction techniques, equipment operation and safety as a part of the NRECA International Program. The foundation covers the cost of the trip and allows us to help expand and bring power to rural areas of Third World countries.
As Hurricane Matthew impacted the island of Haiti, our employees continued their work on the north-east side of the island which was not harshly affected by the storm and returned home on Oct. 8.
NRECA International has brought electricity to more than 140 million people in 43 developing countries across the globe and designs and implements successful, sustainable, scalable rural electrification programs that bring about improvements in education, healthcare, safety and economic opportunity.
