Holmes retires from CAEC Board

Central Alabama Electric Cooperative (CAEC) announces the retirement of Patsy Holmes from her position on CAEC’s Board of Trustees after serving 30 years.

Holmes began her tenure on the Board in July of 1992, representing District 3 (a portion of Elmore County) in the CAEC service area. She has served on numerous boards affiliated with electric cooperatives including the Cooperative Utility Services, LLC (CUS) Board, a subsidiary of CAEC and Dixie Electric Cooperative that serves Maxwell/Gunter AFB, as well as the Board of Central Access, Inc., the broadband subsidiary of CAEC.

She represented CAEC on the Board of Directors of Alabama Rural Electric Association (AREA), the statewide association of cooperatives, from April 1994 through August 2017, including service as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice Chairman and Chairwoman. In April 2018, she was awarded the AREA Pathfinders award, presented for extraordinary rural electric industry service to those whose life and service has had a profound effect.

She is a graduate of Wetumpka High School, attended Huntingdon College and is the former Manager of the Montgomery District of Weight Watchers. She served for 25 years on the Board of Directors of the Elmore County Department of Human Resources, 11 of which she was Chairwoman of the Board. She is a member of the Wetumpka Chamber of Commerce as well as the Elmore County Historical Society.

She has been a member of the Cooperative since 1965. She and her late husband, William “Bobo,” are the parents of two sons, two grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She is a lifelong member of the Wetumpka Church of Christ.

“Her presence on our Board will be profoundly missed. Her quick wit and strong stance to always serve the members well is deeply ingrained in what we do,” said Tom Stackhouse, CAEC President and CEO. “While we will miss her, we are excited for her and this new season to spend more time with her family.”
