On Tuesday, Feb. 17, CAEC released 12 co-op employees to assist our sister cooperative, Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative (FLEC) in Vonore, Tenn., in restoring power to the more than 15,000 members without power due to ice accumulation on tree branches and power lines.
The crews and six bucket trucks joined additional cooperatives and worked throughout the week in FLEC’s service territory, located southwest of Knoxville, Tenn., which serves 32,000 members. Crews completed the task and returned home on Monday, Feb. 23.
Alabama is part of a nationwide network of nearly 1,000 electric cooperatives that come together to assist each other in times of disaster.
