Patsy M. Holmes of Wetumpka has served on CAEC’s Board of Trustees since July 1992 and earned her Credentialed Cooperative Director and Board Leadership certificates as well as the Director Gold certificate awarded by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. Holmes, along with the other CAEC Trustees, is the only Board in the nation to be 100 percent Board member and spouse at the Presidential level of commitment to the nonpartisan rural electric political action committee, Action Committee for Rural Electrification (ACRE). She currently serves on the Board of Central Access, the broadband subsidiary of CAEC.
Holmes, a graduate of Wetumpka High School, attended Huntingdon College and is the former Manager of the Montgomery District of Weight Watchers. She served for 25 years on the Board of Directors of the Elmore County Department of Human Resources, 11 of which she was Chairwoman of the Board. She is a member of the Wetumpka Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Elmore County Historical Society.
Holmes represented CAEC on the Board of Directors of Alabama Rural Electric Association (AREA), the statewide association of cooperatives from April 1994 through August 2017, including service as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice Chairman, and Chairwoman. In April 2018 she was awarded the AREA Pathfinders award, presented to those for extraordinary rural electric industry service whose life and service has had a profound effect.
She has been a member of the Cooperative since 1965. She and her late husband, William “Bobo,” are the parents of two sons, two grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She is a lifelong member of the Wetumpka Church of Christ.
