S’more safety, less risk

Don’t let your camping experience be too “in tents”! Whether you’re spending the weekend at the lake, camping in the woods or parking the RV for a family getaway, a little preparation can go a long way. Keep your outdoor adventure safe and enjoyable with these simple camping safety tips:

  • Keep campfires at least 15 feet away from tents and gear.
  • Never leave a fire unattended — fully extinguish it before leaving or sleeping.
  • Watch overhead power lines when setting up tents, campers or fishing poles.
  • Use flashlights instead of candles inside tents.
  • Keep generators outdoors and away from sleeping areas.
  • Charge phones and emergency devices before heading outdoors.
  • Check the weather forecast and have a storm safety plan.
  • Pack a first-aid kit and plenty of water.
