Crews Assist in Matthew Recovery

On Thursday morning, Oct. 6, CAEC sent three, four man crews, to Florida in preparation of restoration efforts resulting from Hurricane Matthew.

The twelve employees were initially sent to assist Peace River Electric Cooperative headquartered in Wauchula, Fla., restore outages in their 10-county service territory after the Category 4 Hurricane made landfall. After the storm, PREC received little damage, so CAEC crews were sent to assist Clay Electric Cooperative with their more than 75,000 outages.

On Monday, Oct. 10, our crews finished up their work in Florida and traveled to South Carolina to assist Edisto Electric Cooperative with their outages from Matthew.
