CAEC Handles Outages from Tropical Storm Nate

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct.7, crews from Central Alabama Electric Cooperative (CAEC) worked outages associated with Tropical Storm Nate.

Nate quickly blew through CAEC’s 10-county service territory and left the co-op with more than 6,200 outages, mostly from fallen trees and limbs, in eight of the counties. All available CAEC employees worked to restore power as quickly and efficiently as possible and within 24 hours from the first call out, the last outage was restored on Sunday, Oct. 8, by 7:30 p.m.

The number of outages per county in CAEC’s service area was: Autauga, 1,817; Bibb, 30; Chilton, 554; Coosa, 940; Dallas, 489; Elmore, 2,262; Lowndes, 54; Talladega, 55; and Tallapoosa, 32.
