CAEC, along with our generation and transmission provider, PowerSouth, is offering an Empower Energy Education Workshop – a program to assist science teachers in our service area with their professional development as related to the science of energy and how it’s used to provide electricity. Working with education and energy advisors, the National Energy Education Development (NEED) organization trains instructors to teach this subject from a balanced perspective; equips today’s teachers, students and future leaders with knowledge and work skills and provides STEM based energy curriculum training vital to an understanding of electric power.
The three-day workshop will cover a variety of energy topics and allow networking and learning from 300 of their peers from Alabama and Florida and will also allow educators to earn continuing education credits and receive a NEED Science of Energy kit for energy exploration.
If you know any science teachers in CAEC’s service territory, encourage them to apply for a chance to attend this workshop. NEED will receive the applications through their website (www.need.org/empower) until April 30, 2017.
